Description CAS Number: 24345-16-2 Molecular Weight: 2029.93 Salt Form: Acetate Purity: >96% Sequence (3-letter): Cys-Asn-Cys-Lys-Ala-Pro-Glu-Thr-Ala-Leu-Cys-Ala-Arg-Arg-Cys-Gln-Gln-His-NH2 (Cys1-Cys11, Cys3-Cys15) Sequence (1-letter): CNCKAPETALCARRCQQH-NH2 Storage: -20 °C or below Solubility: water to 1 mg/mL Apamin is a peptide toxin found in bee venom that is known to cross the blood-brain barrier. Apamin potently blocks ATP-type Ca+2-activated K+ channels SK1, SK2 and SK3 (low nM to sub-nM IC50), but is inactive against SK4. Apamin is used to elucidate the roles of SK channels in neurons and some cancer cells. It is a globular peptide with disulfide bridges between Cys1-Cys11 (SS1-11) and Cys3-Cys15 (SS3-15).
References
1. Blatz, A.L. and Magleby, K.L.
