Phadebas® Honey Diastase Test

Phadebas® Honey Diastase Test is an optimization of the Phadebas Amylase Test for analyzing diastase in honey. To meet the demands from honey analyzing labs, the Phadebas® Honey Diastase Test was developed to ensure that all batches will behave alike and adhere to the set of equations in the International Honey Commission’s guidelines. Phadebas® Honey Diastase Test is launched as an improved and cost-efficient alternative to the Schade method with better precision, higher selectivity, fewer reagents, fewer steps, less complexity, and less labor time. Determination of the diastatic activity of honey using a photometric method in which a water-insoluble, cross-linked starch polymer carrying a blue dye is used as a substrate. The substrate is hydrolyzed by α-amylase, yielding blue water-soluble fragments, determined photometrically at 620 nm. The absorbance of the solution is directly proportional to the diastatic activity of the sample.
