| Description | The HUMAN (Actin) Peptide Pool consists of 92 overlapping peptides derived from a peptide scan through Actin, alpha skeletal muscle (UniProt ID: P68133) of Homo sapiens. The peptides are 15mers that overlap by 11 amino acids. One unit of HUMAN (Actin) Peptide Pool allows the stimulation of 2,5 x 108 cells. Actin is a ubiquitously expressed protein and therefore an excellent negative control for T cell assays. Relevant controls are critical for measuring antigen-specific responses as they allow accurate interpretation of test results. The HUMAN (Actin) Peptide Pool can rule out non-specific binding of peptides to the tested T cells, while a negative control with medium detects general background signals. Examples of publications where actin was used as a negative control: Baker FL, et al.: Exercise mobilizes diverse antigen specific T-cells and elevates neutralizing antibodies in humans with natural immunity to SARS CoV-2.
