Although the bacteria are slower growing in this medium, the intention of Terrific Broth, Modified is to improve plasmid yields and cell density. Tryptone provides nitrogenous compounds and minerals, while Yeast Extract is a source of B-complex vitamins. Mono- and Dipotassium Phosphates serve as pH buffers. |
