| Scientific Background | FOLR3 (Folate Receptor 3) is a member of the folate receptor family that plays a role in the transport of folic acid and its derivatives. It is a secretory protein that is not membrane-bound and is thought to enhance the bioavailability of folic acid, which in turn can reduce plasma homocysteine (Hcy) levels. Elevated Hcy levels are associated with an increased risk of various diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders and cardiovascular diseases. |
