| Scientific Background | Periostin is a matricellular protein that is expressed in several tissues during embryonic development; however, its expression in adults is mostly restricted to collagen-rich connective tissues. Periostin is expressed only briefly during kidney development, but it is not normally detected in the adult kidney. Recent evidence has revealed that periostin is aberrantly expressed in several forms of chronic kidney disease (CKD), and that its expression correlates with the degree of interstitial fibrosis and the decline in renal function. |
| Molecular Mass | The protein has a predicted MW of 92.1 kDa. Due to glycosylation, the protein migrates to 93-100 kDa based on Bis-Tris PAGE result. |
| Sl Sequence | Asn22-Gln836 |
| Solubility | Dissolve the lyophilized protein in distilled water. It is recommended to resuspend at 0.5 mg/mL if the lyophilized powder is 100 μg or less, at 1mg/ml for 500μg or 1mg lyophilized powder. Do not mix by vortex or vigorous shaking. |
| Appearance | Lyophilized |
| Endotoxin Levels | Less than 1 EU per μg by the LAL method. |
| Expression System | HEK293 |
| Gene Id | Q15063 |
| Amino Acid Sequence | Recombinant Human Periostin/OSF-2 Protein is expressed from HEK293 with His tag at the C-Terminus.It contains Asn22-Gln836. |
| Storage | -20 to -80°C for 12 months as supplied from date of receipt.;-80°C for 3 months after reconstitution.;Recommend to aliquot the protein into smaller quantities for optimal storage. Please minimize freeze-thaw cycles. |
