Small interfering RNA (siRNA)
Small interfering RNA (siRNA), also known as short interfering RNA or silencing RNA, is a class of double-stranded non-coding RNA molecules, typically 20–24 (normally 21) base pairs in length, similar to miRNA, and operating within the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway. It interferes with the expression of specific genes with complementary nucleotide sequences by degrading mRNA after transcription, preventing translation. One of the potent applications of siRNAs is their ability to act as a potential therapeutic reagent due to their ability to inhibit specific genes in many genetic diseases. siRNAs can be used as tools to study single gene function both in vivo and in vitro and are an attractive new class of therapeutics, especially against undruggable targets for the treatment of cancer and other diseases.
Acknowledging the importance of siRNA in therapeutics and drug discovery, BTL Biotechno Labs Pvt. Ltd., as a proud channel partner of Abbexa in India, offers their extensive range of over 10,000 siRNA molecules designed for humans and rats to the scientific community, with an aim to assist researchers in comprehending the molecular mechanisms underlying diseases and their treatments.
